After Hours Software grew from a simple idea: some of the most useful software starts with a problem you need solved yourself.
The applications we build come from real needs, personal interests, and the frustration of discovering that the right solution simply doesn’t exist. Rather than work around the problem, we build the tool we wish we already had.
We don’t build applications just for the sake of releasing software.
Every application starts with something we actually want or need to use ourselves. That keeps the focus on practical features, thoughtful design, and solving the problem well instead of simply checking boxes on a feature list.
Many of our projects begin with subjects and communities we’re already passionate about.
Software gives us a way to explore those interests more deeply, experiment with new ideas, and turn that curiosity into tools that are useful well beyond our own needs.
When something we build for ourselves can also help others, we want to make it available to the community that helped inspire it.
That doesn’t mean every project is open source or built around the same business model. It means we value creating software that contributes something useful to the people and communities around the interests we share.
The name is intentional.
After Hours Software represents the projects we pursue because we genuinely enjoy building them. They’re created with care, curiosity, and the freedom to focus on solving problems we find interesting and worthwhile.
